Steady Sunday Social, Father’s Day
9:00 Sun, 17 Jun 2018
Duration: 1hr 30
A nice flat-ish steady social ride. The ride is aimed at those who want a nice steady ride out into the countryside.
The pace will be 14-16mph average, but this might be less on the day as we will make sure no one gets dropped.
Approx. 26 miles at a nice sociable pace with the finish being at The Bean in Beeston for a coffee. Should take approx 1h30 riding but be aware that punctures, other mechanicals may prolong the ride. Also, there are options to extend the ride but this decision will be made on the day depending on the riders attending.
**Leaving from Greenfingers (178 High Rd, Chilwell, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 5BA) at 9am
The route leaves Beeston, heading towards Long Eaton turning left into station road and onto Fields Farm road to Sawley. Left at the train station and the left at the Plank and Leggit on to long lane. Left in Kegworth towards Sutton Bonnington. Straight on at the cross roads and onto Melton Lane, then Brickyard Lane. Left again towards East Leake. Left in East leake towards Bunny. From Bunny, we head towards Ruddington, then Wilford and back across Clifton bridge, on the cycle path, and down the canal tow path to the Rylands. Stopping at The Bean cafe!
*Usual Social Ride guidelines:*
The Social Ride is aimed at all riders of all abilities to get together and ride in a sociable group.
It would be advisable for each rider to know the route or have a map / GPX.
For large groups we need at least 3 people to take on sweeping-up duties to ensure no one gets left behind. This will be agreed on the day.
If a group on the day decide that the pace isn't fast enough for them, they need to let the ride leader know before they shoot off. This is not a problem at all, however they need to consider is this ride for them as the ride guides are clearly stated.
If the social ride does split up which can happen naturally due to the hills etc, then the lead group will wait at the top of the hill or next junction for the rest re-group.
This social ride can attract riders from local clubs plus riders not affiliated to a club. Beeston CC requires it's members to ride responsibly at all times, with due regard to the rules of the road and with consideration to all other road users. Each individual rider is responsible for their own behaviour on the road. Beeston CC cannot accept any responsibility for the actions of individual riders. Also, this ride is aimed at all riders but anyone under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied but a responsible adult.
Sorry,it's very short for me.
